NEW EVENT - Nike Women's Half Marathon in DC
Yes, we are back to a new fundraising effort on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and yes, this is for a new Half Marathon. Nike Women are coming to DC for the first time, and they will allow men to participate. No matter how fast the male runners are they can't win overall, nor can they start from the "elite" corral at the front of the pack. But after doing eight Nike events in San Francisco (5 Full marathons & 3 Half marathons) let me assure you they put together a really nice race. Besides, being able to share the course with several thousand young women is not a bad thing. <grin>
Speaking of not a bad thing - if you care to read some occasionally humorous prose, take a look at my blog for stories about my walking and cycling adventures. You might even find other tales there as well. The other place some news will be appearing is a team effort with TNT called Cyclists and Friends on Foot where a group of cyclists and their friends will (as usual) be working together for TNT.
I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in another sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
