Together, there’s no telling what we can do. As a Team, we combine our efforts to save lives and "kick cancer to the curb". If you wonder why we have this "Cyclists & Friends on Foot Team" inside Team in Training it's mostly because all of us in CFOF are TNT cyclists (or know one) and like to work together. In the past we have done various Century rides and will be riding again in the future but for the inaugural Nike Women's Half Marathon in DC we are running or walking the Half Marathon on April 28, 2013. "We" is Walking Tom Farnam & Hope Canning as organizers, with a lot of help from the other CFOF members identified on this page.
How does this work? Any contributions you make to a specific CFOF member-athlete are credited to that individual's TNT account and also to the CFOF account. If anyone makes a contribution directly to our COF page those amounts will be shared among all the CFOF members. So if you or a friend are a TNT cyclist and don't want to pick a single teammate for your contribution, put it in the name of Cyclists &Friends on Foot. In any case all the money goes directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help in the fight against blood cancers. You can contribute with a credit card using the web link on this page, or if you prefer to contribute via check, make it payable to "Leukemia & Lymphoma Society" and send it to me at: Thomas C. Farnam, for CFOF, 703 Hawkins Way, Alexandria, VA 22314. Checks will be mailed directly to LLS, but will take a few days before they show up on our donor list.
Once again we will participate in a sports endurance event all with one common goal to honor and benefit all individuals battling blood cancers. Members of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training will be creating teams, large and small, that will be participating in the Nike Women's Half Marathon and other sports events across the country. They will be raising funds to help find cures and more effective treatment for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. As Team CFOF and TNT, we can accomplish great things towards cures for blood cancers.
If you know of a team or individual participating in Team In Training, feel free to make a donation to support LLS’s effort to find cures and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
ps - Some of us are also doing the Rock n' Roll USA Marathon (or 1/2) on 3/16/2013. If you want to join us for either or both events as a runner or walker, send an email to WalkingTom@Comcast.net and we'll send you the TNT entry form.
pps - The photos are the sterling silver finisher's medal from NWM SF 2012, handed to us by firemen in tuxedos. We understand the NWHM DC will be using full dress military folks to hand out the bling. <grin>
