Finishing my second marathon in Phoenix (2009) & with Tyler Cordova, my honored teammate. To read more about 8 yr old Tyler, you can click here.
I love this quote. We may not be able to find a cure for cancer or fund the research on our own. But that should not interfere with us giving a little of our time and money to help.
I've been involved with the LLS since 2008 and I know how great the services they provide are as I know many people who are battling blood cancers. I hope to post some information about them soon after I get permission.
I am part of a team of fundraisers called Team In Training. We show our commitment by training together for marathons. It keeps us motivated and reminds us how lucky we are to be healthy. Our presence gives hope to cancer patients, like Tyler, when they see how many people are committed to finding a cure.
I'm training for the L.A. Half Marathon in October and want to raise $2,500.00!
How serious is blood cancer? Every five minutes, someone in the United States learns that he or she has leukemia, Hodgkin or non-Hodgkin lymphoma or myeloma. Every ten minutes, someone dies of a blood cancer.
Since 1988, Team In Training has raised over $1 Billion for the LLS.
Since LLS's first funding in 1954, it has awarded more than $680 million in research funding. LLS also provides financial assistance to patients; sponsors scientific conferences around the country; produces educational materials and videos; and runs dozens of Family Support Groups nationwide. Because they receive no federal funding, they depend on us for continued support of these needed programs.
Please make a donation and consider passing this website along to your friends and co-workers.
My husband and I now have a Team Henness page where you make a donation toward both of our fundraising goals at one time! If you know us both, please visit our team page and make a donation there.
Thanks for your support!
