This year I want to focus my time and energy to raise money for my very dear friends, Jenny and Rob Howe.  Jenny's niece was diagnosed with Leukemia about a year and half ago and I'm raising funds to help find childhood cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients in her honor. On October 23rd, I'm running the Dawg Dash at Husky stadium for Team Haley.

Your donation will help fund treatments that save lives every day; like immnuotherapies that use a person’s own immune system to kill cancer. You may not know it, but every single donation helps save a life with breakthrough therapies such as these.

Please help me reach my goal of $1000.00 by donating to my page.

Thank you!

Haley's Story

Haley is 10 years old. She lives in University Place, WA with us, and her twin sister, Karys. We have two cats, Mario and Gracie, and a dog, Olive. Haley loves music, soccer, boating, animals, playing with friends and has an awesome sense of humor. She is always making us all laugh!!

On May 21, 2015 our lives changed forever. I know it sounds very cliché, but it is very true. We were all at once thrown into a life of living with cancer. On this date our dear, sweet, funny Haley was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  ALL. What is ALL? It is a cancer that starts from the early version of white blood cells called lymphocytes in the bone marrow (the soft inner parts of the bones, where new blood cells are made). Leukemia cells usually invade the blood fairly quickly. They can then spread to other parts of the body, including the lymph nodes, liver, spleen, and the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). The term "acute" means the leukemia can progress quickly, and if not treated, would probably be fatal within a few months. When we were told Haley had ALL, did I know all of this? NO! Absolutely not.
So, here we are almost a year later and Haley is in remission but she is still fighting. We are all fighting. Haley is in the maintenance phase of her treatment plan, which will last for two years. She will receive chemotherapy once a month through her port as well as taking daily oral chemo. She will be considered "Cured" after 5 years. As a mother and father to watch your child go through this, there is really no way to explain it. You feel helpless and guilty. We want to do something to make a difference. This is how we are making a difference. We are running a 1/2 marathon in Las Vegas on November 13th and raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society so one day we can all live in this world that is free from Childhood Cancer.
Thank you,
Mike, Kressent, Karys, and Haley
