One more week! Lets do this!
Last weekend, Karen, one of our coaches invited the team out to her beach house for a change of scenery, and a little team bonding for that weekends training. Our other coach Fred, specified to Karen and the rest of us that this was to be a recovery workout weekend. Someone didn't get the memo, because our weekend went a little something like this-
Sat. 9:00 a.m- 13.1 Mile run with somewhere betweeen 1,200-1,500 feet of elevation gain.
Sat. 2:00 p.m.- Yoga 45 minutes
Sun. 8:00 a.m.- 50 miles bike with 2,500 feet of elevation gain. Followed by walking straight into Ludlow bay with bibs on to ice the legs. Then up to the hot tub for a recovery beer.
This was no recovery weekend, it was so much more. I came into this journey not really concerened with making new friends and building social ties. To be perfectly honest, I kinda thought a lot of the people I've met, who have been involved in TNT events year after year, were a little over the top. Imagine a bunch of cheerleaders hopped up on coffee. After spending the last 5 months and espicially the weekend in Port Ludlow with these teammates, my mind is changed forever. These are all beautiful people coming together to push themselves, and each other for one cause; fight cancer. I am really enjoying getting to know everyone a little better everyday and I look forward to continuing to know them in the years to come. I'm thinking I just might become a regular/mentor. Thanks to all my coaches, teammates, mentors and donors!
Attention all of you beautiful people: as you may have noticed, I have reduced my fundraising goal to $3,200 from $5,000. Anything above that minimum will be that much more special as fundraising is moving a bit slowly right now. For those of you who would still like to donate but are feeling overwhelmed financially right now, good news, you still have plenty of time. I do need to reach my minimum of $1,600 by Feb. but thats still a month away. Did you know that you can double your donation by doing Gift Matching? A lot of companies will match any philanthropic gift/donation made by an employee. All you need to do is check with your HR Dept. at work. January is a good month for this because they have a fresh budget for these gifts and chances are they haven't yet been spoken for. Thank you for your time.
