We are a team of 77 family and friends who are raising money for LLS in honor of Haley who was diagnosed with High Risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on May 21, 2015. We want Haley to know that her community has done everything it can to help find a cure for childhood leukemia so that other kids don't have to go through what she and her family is going through! We will be doing the following races in Haley's honor: NY Marathon, Chicago Marathon, Vegas Marathon, Leavenworth Half Marathon, Vancouver Half Marathon, Disney Avengers Half Marathon, Big Sur Half Marathon, UW Dawg Dash and Aneheim 5k.

 

TEAM HALEY's mission is to raise over $100,000 for LLS. With your help Haley's name will be honorably linked to the Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) Research Portfolio with funds going directly to research projects focused on ALL.

 

ALL is the most common cancer in children. Many children can be cured with intensive multi-drug treatments, but these can have debilitating side effects. More effective and less toxic therapies are urgently needed for patients of all ages. This is an important and exciting opportunity for us all -- through TEAM HALEY -- to help directly fund research that will benefit Haley and so many others like her who are fighting ALL.

Haley has endured hundreds of oral chemotherapy doses at home, over 100 rounds of intravenous chemotherapy, 25 spinal tap chemotherapy injections, 5 blood transfusions 1 body scan, and numerous inpatient admissions. She endured hair loss twice, weight gain and weight loss. Haley is now in the maintenance phase of treatment which lasts for two years and includes oral chemotherapy daily and chemotherapy through her port once a month at the clinic. 

 

Haley told TNT last season: “Dear Team, thank you very much for running all those marathons for me. It means a lot to me. Even though I have this, it’s a lot easier when I know I have people cheering for me and praying for me. GO TEAM!”  

                                        

Haley is one of the bravest, funniest and kindest kids you will ever meet. Her smile and loving nature lights up every room she is in. She is eleven years old and she has a twin sister named Karys and a dog named Olive. When she grows up, she wants to go to the University of Washington and she wants to be a child psychologist who helps kids going through what she is going through.

 

LLS's continued advancements over the years are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled. Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs like Gleevec, Sprycel, Arinza, Tasigna and Zolinza are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.

 

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

 

Not everyone can participate in an endurance event, but EVERYONE can make a difference in the lives of others when they give to LLS. All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
