Hi Everyone and thanks for stopping my Team in Training donation page.
This year I've decided to go ULTRA CRAZY and run an ultra marathon to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). I am training for the Tamalpa Headlands 50K Ultra Marathon on August 25, 2012. What’s an Ultra? It’s a distance beyond a marathon (or 26.2 miles) and this 50K is approximately 31.5 miles. The Headlands 50K course is incredibly beautiful, running through redwood rain forests, along coastal bluffs, ridges, and wild flowers and lots and lots of hills. We're talking 8,000 feet of elevation here! The course consists of a mix of single track and fire road and covers a lot of trails in the Marin area just north of San Francisco, including Tennessee Valley, Rodeo Beach, Miwok Trail, the infamous Dipsea Trail, and something called Cardiac Hill (hmm).
I’m committed to training and doing this event with our LLS honorees motivating and inspiring me. In my brief time with Team in Training I've already met and been inspired by hearing the stories in person from several blood cancer survivors and their stories have been a huge source of inspiration for me. It shows what the individual human spirit can achieve and what we as a Team can achieve when we work together to bring an end to these blood cancers.
If you’d like to contribute to a great cause I’d greatly appreciate it. Find the donation link on the right of this page. Your donations will help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and ultimately improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
I will be maintaining my running blog on runbaizelrun.com if you would like to follow all the aches and pains (and triumphs!) as I train for this race.
** BUY A KILOMETER AND BE A PART OF MY RACE **. As a fun fundraising incentive, I am 'selling' each of the 50km I am running for $50 a kilometer. For each $50 donated, you will own one of the 50km on race day and you and a chosen honoree will literally be a part of my race. Donations will be made on this page you are currently on and I will add your name to a km on my blog's 'Buy a Kilometer' page.
Thanks!
I'm happy to report that we raised $300 with our Super Bowl Squares for Charity pool. We raised $5 a square with half of the proceeds going to lls.org and the other to winners. I won $50 with the third quarter score and added that to the proceeds, bringing the total up to $300.
Thanks everyone who participated. This was a fun way for people to get involved while helping a great cause.
