What is it? I am raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. They help thousands of people each year afford treatment and research new cures and medicine. All the money raised goes to this charity. I do not get any of it. In early June, after I raise $1600 in donations I will participate in a charity bike ride around Lake Tahoe. I am responsible for all hotels/travel/food etc. None of the money raised by this fundraiser is used by me personally.
What is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society? The funds raised by Team in Training teammates help raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! The Leukemia and Lymphoma society explores new paths to cures, supporting 300 active, cutting-edge research projects in the most promising new areas of immunotherapy and personalized medicine in cancer research. Help me, help them, find a cure!
Why? I am 45 and just into the obese catagory. I have fibromyalgia, POTS, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and I am trying to recover my life. I also want to inspire my children to push harder, try harder, forgo excuses and achieve anything they desire. You should always have goals, always be pushing and always be trying harder. I have set this ride as my goal in order to:
1) Get in shape and fit enough to do this charity ride around Lake Tahoe.
2) Inspire my kids by being a good role model.
3) Start taking care of my own body.
4) Raise money for a wonderful cause.
My grandpa died from this type of cancer as a result of radiation exposure during A-Bomb testing in the Southwest. By the time it was discovered it had gotten into every part of his body. He died after far too much pain and suffering. So I also ride for him, my old wrinkly. Too many I know and love have fought various cancers. It is time for cancer to be cured.
How does it work? I commit to fundraise $1600 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and in exchange I get personal training, an aggressive training schedule and finally get to ride Tahoe, all while raising money for a great cause! Team in Training provides cyclists of all ages and experience levels with breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe and its surrounding wilderness. The ride offers multiple distances along with rest stops, event support and an outstanding ride experience. For more information on this event, click HERE.
