Hiking to Save Lives

Welcome to Team Lost Dogs' Team In Training home page.

Team Lost Dogs' members are Phil Bacigalupi and Stacy Bacigalupi, and clicking on the purple "Donate to team" button at the right allocates your donation to both of us!

We're training to participate in an endurance event as members of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. we are completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

On June 19, 2010, we are going to hike the world famous Half Dome in Yosemite, California to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training Program. YES! we will hike 18 miles from the valley floor to the top of the granite crest that rises more than 4,737 ft (1,444 m) above the valley floor and back! But aside from trying to conquer one of our biggest physical trials yet, this challenge has a much greater purpose...We are hiking for...A Friend!

On July 9, 2006, Phil was at a concert with our friend Danny who started to feel sick and had to sit down during his favorite songs. The next day he sent Phil a text message that said he went to the doctor and found out he had cancer. It was leukemia. We went to visit him in the hospital where we had to wear face masks so we wouldn't spread germs to his weakened immune system. He was excited for the day he would get out of the hospital so we could have a poker night, and so that he could continue to coach his youth soccer team that he was so proud of. Unfortunately, that day never came. On August 9. 2006, Danny passed away at age 29, just 30 days after the concert.

An estimated 912,000 Americans are battling blood cancers, including leukemia which causes more deaths in children under the age of 20 than any other cancer. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education, and patient services with the mission to "cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families." Please join me in supporting the extraordinary efforts of LLS by donating to my hike and helping me reach our goal of raising $8000. Our goal is to have $4000 by March 9 and $8000 by May 25.

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
