Less than a month to go before the San Diego Marathon and I've been reflecting on the last three months of training with Team in Training.
It has truly been the one of the best experiences I've had. I've learned a lot about myself and what I am capable of. But I also know that I would have never accomplished any of it without my team. I've made amazing new friends, and the encouragement they've given me has kept me going when I didn't think I could. These are some of the most awe-inspiring people I've ever met. And each one of them is working just as hard as me or harder and raising money for cancer research in the process. The dedication and the caring of this group is truly phenomenal.
Next month when I, hopefully, complete my 26.2 miles, it will be a great accomplishment, but the most memorable thing I will take from this experience is the people I've met and gotten to know, who've helped support me and who I've helped support. I'm so proud to be part of such a wonderful group!
I made my first goal! I completed a Half-Marathon! I completed the More Magazine Women's Half Marathon on Sunday in Central Park! What a day! What a race!
The race was two loops of Central Park, which is pretty hilly and quite the challenge. The first loop went well but the second loop was definitely tougher. Hitting all of those hills a second time was hard but I pushed through.
The crowd was great and it felt empowering to be surrounded by other women running along side me. My goal for the race was just to finish the distance and stay on a consistant pace and that's just what I did. The last mile was the toughest because that was the point where I was really pushing myself farther than I had before but it was all worth it. Crossing the finish line felt amazing. I felt like I could do anything!
The rest of the day was a blur of celebrating and recovering but my smile never left my face and my participation medal never left it's place around my neck.
This accomplishment only makes me more excited for my Marathon, which is only a month and a half away! Please help me make it to my goal and donate whatever you can. Together we can help fight cancer and accomplish amazing feats!
I've been training for my marathon now for two months, and boy does time fly! I can't believe how far I've come already since the beginning of February. I feel so much healthier and stronger and more confident in what I can do. And I've met some amazing and inspirational people who have made me even more inspired to raise money to fight cancer.
I've hit a lot of firsts over the last few months, too. I've run longer distances than I ever have before, I ran from Brooklyn to Manhattan and back, and I ran my first 10K last Sunday on Roosevelt Island. It was a fun race from start to finish and it felt great to cross that finish line.
Next up is my first Half-Marathon, which I will be running on April 15th. It's only two weeks away and I am excited for it! And hopefully you can help me too, by getting me to half of my fundraising goal by then. This site doesn't reflect it yet, but I've raised just over $700 so far. Can you help me raise $1000 more in the next two weeks?
Teams are made up of individuals. Without them, there is no team.
Welcome to my Team In Training home page. I am running the Marathon in San Diego in June in order to raise money for blood cancer research. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma.
I’m improving the quality of my life by running the Marathon and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
