Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in the 2010 Nautica New York City Triathlon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training.
All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am also doing this in memory of my mother-in-law, Pilar Ubierna, whose life was taken by cancer in May 2007. After her initial diagnosis in 2005, and after undergoing treatment, she bounced back and early signs were encouraging. Still, as it is too often the case, the cancer came back. She fought bravely until succumbing in May 2007. Throughout it all, Pilar was her usual cheery self and full of life, setting an example for those around her on how to live life to its fullest.
It is in her memory, and in honor of all individuals who are currently battling blood cancers, that I have been training and preparing to compete in the 2010 NYC Triathlon a member of Team In Training. As part of my commitment, I am hoping to raise at least $3,000 for Team In Training. We need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit this web site often for updates and additional information on my progress.
