Dearest Supporters,
I did it; and with your help I did the Cause proud. Thank you so very much! Today I completed the NYC Half Marathon in 1 hour 49 minutes and 26 seconds for an average pace of 8:22 minutes/mile. It was the culmination of 3 months effort. Everything from Saturday long runs in rain/snow/20 degrees, to sending off an Honored Teammate yesterday to receieve treatment and seeing my wife Judith achieve at PR (10 minutes faster than ever before) in the race
THIS IS A SHOT OF ME ON THE WEST SIDE HIGHWAY, APPROX MILE 11.5.
This season has been a-m-a-z-i-n-g and without your help I would have been just another runner in the Park. Some of you know me very well, some are new friends--I have always been a runner at heart and Team in Training is the ultimate way for me to enjoy my passion.
I am priviliged to have been able to share this experience with you and thank you for all your monetary and moral support. Stay tuned: I have committed to running the NYC FULL MARATHON in November. Hard work. Dedication. Results.
Its 3 weeks and a few days before the NYC Half Marathon and I want to give you all an update since the "Spring" season began 3 months ago.
Fundraising: There is a small window of time left to donate for this season. If you have been waiting to click the button, now is the time! Thank you all who have donated, and special thanks to those who participated in a Superbowl Box Pool - over $300 was raised (some of it already counted in what you see here online, the balance to be matched and posted shortly).
Running : 37 times in 95 days for distance of 170.1 mi / average of 4.6 miles every time I go out.
Calories burned: 17,967
Friends made: literally dozens. Team Brooklyn is very tight and we tend to take over coffee shops and bars wherever we go!
Sincerely,
Jon
Quick thanks for everyone that donated recently!
The pool is full, let's get ready for some FOOTBALL!
Sincerely,
Jon
Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Reeds driftin' on by
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good
-Michael Buble, "Feeling Good"
This about describes my state of being after a hard first month of training. So far in January I have logged 77.94 miles including the 10 mile Run to Blue Point Brewery Beer Run with friends Joshua and Ryan and yesterdays Brrrooklyn Hot Chocolate 10K with Brooklyn TNT. Each step I take builds up endurance towards my half and full marathon this year. On freezing weeks like this it reminds me that I get up to run while others fight the good fight. All the more reason for me to suck it up and put on another layer and pound pavement!
Each dollar has the same meaning. Maybe your dollar is going to nano-technology research to potentially deliver chemotherapy to children in a way that attacks cancer cells without harming healthy cells, greatly reducing side effects. Click HERE for U Delaware artice.
If you haven't gotten your Super Bowl Box from me, do it NOW! (13 slots left, $20 for 2 boxes). Thank you so much for everyone that has participated so far...!
Feeling Good.
If you have landed on this page you already know that dollars cure cancer. I am back at it again with TNT Brooklyn, running to raise money to fund drugs to end this terrible affliction and to raise awareness that a cure is possible.
More dollars = less cancer (<--click there)
Fact: 5-year survival rate for Hodgkin-Lymphoma (say that 5 times fast) has gone from 40% to 86%. I want to see it at 100% in my lifetime.
Money also help families cope with treatment (Ronald McDonald House for example) and give them hope that cure will be found in their lifetime.
If you didn't catch my first season, check out what I accomplished in October 2012. It was a truly amazing experience.

This season I have raised the bar to $4000 and want your help to encourage me to improve my running time. And cure cancer.
Be on the lookout for updates here on my progress towards the NYC Half Marathon, March 17, 2013. Help me make it a truly memorable St Pattys Day run by donating to the cause.
Sincerely,
Jon
