$15,000 raised since I started running with Team in Training!
May 14, 2013

My love of running races with Team in Training is no secret to you all. I’ve been doing this for six years now! Lately I’ve been wondering just how much I’ve raised since it all began, in January 2007 in Washington, DC when my friend Jess and I decided to join up for the Anchorage Half. Last week I asked the NYC LLS office if they had an idea of my “grand total” and, true to form, my assigned coordinator there replied within mere minutes, to excitedly tell me it was looking like I was bouncing right over the $15K mark!

Here’s the scoop:

Mayor’s Midnight Sun Half Marathon, Anchorage, AK, 2007 ($5,181)

BMO Vancouver Half Marathon, 2011 ($3,500)

New York City Marathon, 2011 ($3,670)

New Jersey Half Marathon, 2012 ($500)

New York City Half Marathon, 2013 ($834)

New York City Marathon 2013 (in so far: $975; in process: $500)

Grand Total as of May 14, 2013: $15,160

Because of all of you, my friends and family who support me by donating to the LLS on my behalf – I have raised over $15,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in my lifetime!

Now I’ve got $2525 left to raise before I meet my goal for this year’s New York City Marathon. If you’ve supported me in the past, please consider doing so again. There is still much work to be done before blood cancers stop taking loved ones away too soon and we need your help.

Such a good idea I think I'll do it again

There I am, Mile 24 of the 2011 NYC Marathon. I was loving every minute of that mile, despite the fact that I'd been on my feet for five and a half hours. Why? Because I'd trained for that moment. I'd stretched, strengthened, run, eaten, and fundraised to get to that point. With the support of my family and friends, I'd raised $5,000 for blood cancer research and patient services. And my family and friends were out there on that spectacular fall day, cheering for me.

I'm doing the marathon again because I can. I can run and I can raise money so that's what I'm going to do. Also, I love Team in Training.

Please join me in this effort - I can't do it without you!

Teams are made up of individuals. Without them, there is no team.

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.

Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
