Top 10 Fundraisers for the Maine Lighthouse Ride 2017.

Friends and Family:

Here we are, my 14th year of fundraising for Team in Training!  Since I am getting this to you later in the year (as always), I have already ran the Sly Fox ½ back in April, and just did the Swedish Days ride at the end of June. Last year, I did the Bike Benzie ride, and a bunch of half marathons (Sly Fox ½, Fox Valley ½, and the Naperville ½), and the Maine Lighthouse Ride. All went very well, and were a lot of fun. Also thanks to your support last year, I ended up being the 9th top fundraiser for the event, and got to go up on the stage and also get the #9 bib to ride with. So that was very cool. So Thank you for that!

This year I also signed up to do a different cycling event called Race the Lake. I am pretty excited. It is 88 mile race around the majestic Lake Winnebago. It sounds fun. Again this year, I am already signed up for the both the Fox Valley Half and the Naperville Half, and I will also looking for other things to salt in. As always though, I am only asking you to donate this one time.

As you may or may not know, I do all of these endurance events in memory of my father and a little boy named Keegan Grant. My Father lost his battle Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma just before the start of my senior year of HS. Keegan Grant was going through treatment for ALL, and passed away from complications after his stem cell transplant in Sept of 2006. Keegan was only 8 years old. Sadly on Sept 3rd 2013, I lost a friend, Craig Hutson, who had been battling cancer for a number of years. So there is still a lot more work to be done. I continue to ride in honor of a few amazing people. First a close friend, Gavin Burke (he was declared cured and cancer free in 2010). Gavin and his family have done (and still do) countless events with Team every year.

Jeanne and Scott are both suvivors that i met a long time ago through the TNT Marathon team. They are both amazing people. They come out of retirement (running retirement) every few years and run a marathon together just to prove that they still got "it". Scott says that Jeanne is a huge inspiration for him, but they are both a huge inspiration for me.

Marie Jarrell is the head coach for the TNT  Marathon Team, and not only a survivor, she is a  constant inspiration.

Emily is also a survivor (shown with her mom, Paula Stone) Emily just celebrated being cancer free for 21yrs!

Kevin (shown to the left with his mom, Barb Friedman) was considered cured 22 years ago, and he just got married!! Congrats Kevin!

Julieann, She is doing great. She just finished grad school.

But no matter how hard all of the training, the rides, and the events turn out to be, it will be no comparison to the challenges these coaches, or people with blood cancers (or any cancer) and their families face every day. Once again, I hope you will help me in my journey. I realize that money might be a little tight, but I would appreciate any size pledge you are willing to give. I have committed to raising $5000 for LLS/TNT in return for them to train me.

You can donate with a credit card now by clicking on the green "Donate Now" button to the right. If you would like to donate by check, please email me (, and I can tell you how. Please pass this link along to anyone that you think would be interested in helping me and LLS/TNT reach that ultimate goal.....A Cure for Cancer. Remember, all donations are 100% tax deductible.

Since 1988, when the first Team in Training team was formed, TNT has trained over 650,000 people who have raised over $1.4 billion to help fight leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. TNT's efforts have led to key advances in understanding these cancers and have produced new treatments to enhance and prolong lives. Important innovations include stem cell transplantation, and targeted therapies that kill cancer cells without harming normal healthy tissue. Nearly 50% of all cancer drugs approved by the FDA during the past decade were for blood cancers, and they are helping other patients as well. For more info

Together we can make a difference! Thank You again for your support over all the past years, but especially last year. Also, let me thank you in advance for your support this year.

Go Team!
