20 Miles and Counting
It's about that time... The marathon is less than three weeks away! Saturday morning, greeted by another brilliant sunrise, I covered my longest run before race day along the Chicago lakefront. Now I am looking towards the final 26.2 miles on October 12th! As with all of my long runs, I am continually inspired by the love and support of my family, friends and teammates. Together we are working towards a cure – What an honor!!
Being honored by a cause that is so dear to my heart has motivated me to set my fundraising goal at $10,000.00 this year. I hope to not only meet, but surpass this goal! I encourage you to help in creating a world without cancer by forwarding my website, giving others the opportunity to contribute to such a great cause too!!
We can talk, but money talks, so talk more bucks and let's finish this :)

Double Digits
After two ten mile runs, training has officially hit double digits which means we're half way there! While my fresh new kicks (thank you New Balance) did play a part in carrying me through those ten milers, my real drive comes from the gratitude I have for the unwavering generosity and support I have been #blessed with these last six years.
Bring it back to October 31st 2008 when I was diagnosed with Stage III Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Throughout the six months of chemotherapy that followed I was overwhelmed by kindness and support from friends, family and community. My treatment went beyond the chemicals. I am grateful for my amazing oncology team and the love and support of friends, family and community that brought me clear CAT scans May 13th 2009!
It is your continued support today that brings increased hope to other patients and families like mine battling this unforgiving disease. Teaming with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to run 26.2 miles after overcoming this disease reminds me of how important even the smallest acts of giving can be. It is this gratitude that inspires me to put in the work and keep runnin' runnin' toward a cure!
In the spirit of acknowledging (and continuing!) the miles and dollars thus far, I will leave the my last words to lyrical genius MC Hammer, “Either work hard or you might as well quit.”
Go TEAM!

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training raises funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. With your support, we can help improve the quality of life for patients as well as their families! Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
This season, I am excited to be honored with the opportunity of sharing my own story as a cancer survivor to help encourage and inspire the Team that supports the mission of LLS as a Honored Hero! As a Team in Training alumna, this year has extra meaning to me as I will celebrate my fifth year cancer free and run my fifth Bank of America Marathon with Team in Training.
Donate here to support me in saving the lives of other cancer patients or ask me about joining the Team as a participant or volunteer!
Go TEAM!!
