Stomping Out Blood Cancer

My Dad - My Honoree
Mar 30, 2018

Mike Cooper  is a retired firefighter and in 2009 was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Multiple Myeloma is a cancer of the blood. Like many blood cancers, Multiple Myeloma can be caused by the chemicals that firefighters are exposed too. Mike went through four rounds of chemotherapy. In March 2010 he had a stem cell transplant with his own stem cells. That put him in remission. He spent time on a preventative chemotherapy drug. In 2016 he was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndrome and was borderline Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He again went through chemotherapy. In July 2016 he had another stem cell transplant. This time he had stem cells donated from his sister who was a perfect match. Today, he is in remission. He is battling graft versus host disease, which is where his body is fighting the new stem cells. But, he has no cancer and is about to embark on a bucket list 5 week RV trip!

Running to Fight for Cures for Blood Cancers!
Feb 04, 2018

It takes more than one person to make up a team and that’s why I’m asking you to donate to my TNT fundraising page for TNT!

By participating as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) TNT, I am raising funds to help find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients.

Your donation will help fund treatments that save lives every day; like immunotherapies that use a person’s own immune system to kill cancer. You may not know it, but every single donation helps save a life with breakthrough therapies such as these.

Patients need these cures and they need your support.

Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help get us all closer to a world without blood cancers.

Thank you!
