My honorary teammate Caroline Churchill
Dear Friends,
Welcome to our fundraiser campaign page. Caroline, my honory running mate, and I teamed up to participate in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program to run a half marathon during the upcoming Pittsburgh Marathon on May 6.
Caroline has now been running her own marathon since early 2011. With 10 months of treatment under her belt, Caroline has gone through treatments that would have brought most adults to their knees. Rounds and rounds of chemo and radiation, in and out of the hospital, loss of weight, loss of strength and reflexes, and loss of hair. But Caroline? Through it all she keeps on fighting and smiling and making her way forward, with the support of her twin brother, her parents, family and friends.

Caroline was finally able to start school this January, and just LOVES it! She’s like most any child – she likes to color, play outside, enjoys making crafts, and absolutely loves dancing! She isn’t very girly, really. Princess-play really isn’t her thing – she’s more likely to pull the sword out of the dress-up-box to play with, fighting the dragons herself. Her mom says that really sums up her fighting spirit…
While she still has 18 months of daily oral chemo and monthly chemo injections intravenously into her ports or injected in her spine, there is NO stopping that smile – or her dancing!
You can watch "Caroline the Strong" at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KsCxKcC57I and listen to her sweet voice singing at the end.
I'm kindly asking you to help by making a donation to our fundraising campaign. Each donation helps accelerate finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Nearly 958,000 Americans are battling these blood cancers. I am hoping that my participation in Team In Training and your support and generosity will help bring them hope and support.
On behalf of Caroline and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, I thank you for your support. We promise to give you a run for your money ;)
All the best,
Emel
