Racing to Save Lives

Hi my name is Lori Bills and I am a longtime Palmyra resident, some of you know me through my job as manager of the copy shop called Rapid Repeats and More, Inc. (formerly known as Copy Central)

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

My daughter Heather (pictured with me) has been battling cancer (Hodgkins lymphoma) for the past five years. When she was first diagnosed we were told that this is a very treatable and curable cancer. She had many things going for her...her age, her overall health and her drive. She has gone through virtually months of chemotherapy and radiation, she had her own stem cells transplanted and had a non related bone marrow transplant in Nov. of 2006. The cancer has reoccured earlier this year. She is presently having photoapheresis treatments every other week in hopes to aid with some of the effects of GvHD (Grahp vs. Host Disease) related to the unrealted bone marrow transplant. Her team of doctors are presently trying to find the best way to radiate her again due to the fact that the active cancer is in a rather risky position. Even with all the treatment and the many countless trips/stays to the hospital, Heather has remained positive and focused on her future. She re-entered college in the fall of 07 and has been on the dean's list. She was told her chances of being cured are slim and her treatment is limited and that is behind her drive to enter this half-marathon. She wants to fight cancer and bring awareness to the fight in order to hopefully find a cure. I am supporting her 100 percent and have decided to join her in this event. Together we will help cure cancer one mile at a time!

We have begun training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers (Especially with my daughter in mind). These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
