Racing to Save Lives Welcome to my Team In Training home page. I'm training again to participate in America's Most Beautiful Ride, a 100 mile Bike Ride around Lake Tahoe (June 7th, 2009), as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. Last year I raised $4900, this year I want to meet or exceed that amount. What you should know:
I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! My inspiration and motivation comes from the following people I am training and riding in Honor of: Deborah Axleson About five years ago Deborah found out she had CML, Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. She was told she would have six months to get a bone marrow transplant and oh yes, by the way you only have a 30 per cent chance of living through the procedure. Life wasn't very fun right then for Deborah, she was pretty scared, confused and angry. Laura, one of her daughters had just told her a couple months prior that she was pregnant. Shortly after She started the drug Gleevec, in less then six months of being on the medication, She was in remission! Pete Stanis I have been best friends with Pete's older brother Zeke since college. Pete was just diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Pete completed his first round of Chemo last week and has been his long road towards a cure. I am here to suport him anyway I can. Bill Theys I attended Milwaukee School of Engineering with Bill and played softball with him after graduation. Bill is a husband and father of three! Bill was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the age of 39. He is currently in remission and doing well with the love and support from his wife Julie, and three sons, Jake, Nate and Nick. Margaret Ford - Friend of Peter Colon - Sportcrafters.. Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
