Dear Friends and Family,

As most of you know, my dear brother in law, Robert Brecher died after being diagnosed with Leukemia.  The procedures to prepare for the bone marrow transplant he needed were instrumental in ending his life far too soon.  I train every day in his memory, even when not fund raising.  He was a kind, gentle young man with a wife and two little kids, one of whom will graduate from High School this June.  My brother's wife, Karen Klahr died as she battled a blood cancer and my sister Sue's friend Jen Embry died from Leukemia several years ago at a very young age.

There are several people in my life who I honor as they battle different typies of cancer.  My dear friend, whom I met through Team in Training 2 years ago, Steve Hirsch is currently battling an aggressive form of Lymphoma and has begun 4 rounds of chemo one week on and 2 weeks off, this is a very aggressive treatment.  My friend Nancy Lustyik is battling Breast Cancer and has recently finished her treatments of chemo and is blasting through her radiation protocol.  My sister Sue Klahr is a Breast Cancer Survivor as is her friend Dori. There is also Hannah M, who's name I wear on my bib, a one year survivor this past month and I will be wearing my newest little buddy, Julian's name on my bib as he battles stage 4 neuroblastoma.  I raise money and awareness in honor of all of these Cancer fighters and so many more. 

This year I will swim and bike, as I am suffering through a heel spur and cannot do the run.  The race has offered an Aqua Bike option which enables me to swim the .9 miles and ride the 25 miles crossing the finish line.
