Our mission is to help treat and comfort the over 60,000 people diagnosed annually with Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma.
Our mission is to help find cures so that the over 1,000,000 survivors living with blood diseases can move on with their lives without the daily fear of cancer progression!
Our mission is simple, but we are CRAZILY devoted to it.
And so we come together under the auspices of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program to raise money, awareness and hope against these insidious blood diseases!
We LYMPHOMANIAC bikers will embark on our grueling 100 mile century ride around Lake Tahoe California/Nevada (it’s such a big lake and ride it needs two states to handle it!!) on June 2, 2013. That is 4 months from now!! For those of you who haven’t done it yet, we start in 30 degree temperatures at 6 am and finish late in the day in anywhere from 40-70 degree range. We ride with over 2000 other LLS fundraisers who are as equally dedicated as we, but who are not official card carrying bike shirt wearing “LYMPHOMANIACS”. Only WE can say that.
As team captain and a Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma survivor, I have assembled our group of amazing people to share this, my 10th consecutive America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride, with me. We all have different reasons for committing to this ride: some of us are cancer survivors; some of us have lost love ones; some of us have dear friends or relatives who are dealing with cancer now; some of us are even biking for fun just to get into shape. No matter what the reason, all of us are now united to train for our big day and to raise as much money as possible for our cause.
Now, it is not easy to get ready to ride 100 miles. Over the next few months, we Lymphomaniacs will train together, gaining confidence and strength and group camaraderie. We will have many ups and downs (literally and figuratively).We will push our pedals and our fundraising, all the while trying to reach our goals....believe me, we will reach them and more.
