Can you see it? Can you see all my cheer???
I have never done a fundraiser like this before, where we literally stood on the street at the Fremont Sunday Market and asked for money. I was surprised by and grateful for how nice most people were, even though I was basically standing in their way yelling in their faces.
We raised something like $400, which keeps me a long way from my $2400 goal. But every little bit counts, so keep the donations coming!
Again, please remember what a fantastic organization this is, and how much they have done and continue to do to fight cancer and support people in battle. That is why I do these crazy, ridiculous things.
Have you ever seen a team rowing at its best? All the oars moving in perfect unison, the boat steady and swift, each person rowing in time with all the others. It is so graceful, so beautiful, so effortless.
This is not what beginners are like. Not at all.
In the beginning it is like a toddler taking its first steps. The boat wobbles, oars collide, occassionally you hit the person in front of you with your oar, or forget to sit in the proper position and get nailed in the back with theirs. It is a comedy of errors, and I imagine a ridiculous sight to behold.
Rowing is one of those things that you can really only learn by doing. Sure you can practice on the rowing machines and work on strenthening the important muscles. But really, you just have to get on the water and practice, to feel your body do the right (and wrong) things, and to get to know your teammates and learn to work with them.
I am proud to say that we are getting a lot better. We are no Olympic team at this point, and we only have 4 more weeks until race day. (YIKES!) But we sure have come a long way, and it has been awesome learning with this bunch.

Guys, I really want cancer to be gone. I want it to not attack and hurt and take so many of the people we love. I want to have really great tools to fight it when it does appear. And I want people who are in battle to have all the support and care they need.
And that is why I am fundraising for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). By raising money, we will help find cures and ensure access to treatments for cancer patients.
If you donate, your money will help fund treatments that save lives every day, like immunotherapies that use a person’s own immune system to kill cancer, and targeted therapies that cause less harmful side effects. And your money will go to supporting people and their families during one of the hardest battles they have ever faced, by connecting them with information, support groups, financial help, and much more.
This is a big deal. This is an amazing organization. I believe in this mission, and hope you will join me.
Please consider making a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help get us all closer to a world without blood cancers.
Thanks a lot, friends!
