Wow this month as flow by! I guess that happens when it is only 28 days! This month was eventful!
First we had our Team Halfway party at Paddy Coyne's! Training is going by so fast! Here is a picture of most of our team!
Secondly, training has been pretty intense still! This month I traveled for work some and it was harder to get some of the mid-week runs in, but I'm holding pretty strong! This month resulted in 131.4 miles! I can't believe how fast they add up! I am still enjoying the whole experience and even the long runs! This month my longest run was 17 miles!
Please consider a donation of ANY amount to help fight blood cancers. All money is due March 21st!
Racing to Save Lives
Welcome!
My name is Karla and I LOVE to run!
I'm training to run a FULL Marathon (26.2 miles) as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. The team I am on is the HIT (High Intensity Training) and we are training for the Yakima Canoyn River Marathon on April 2, 2011. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of an individual who had a courageous battle with Cancer. All of the people being honored by our team are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
I'm honoring is Dennis Gove. Dennis was a wonderful father to one of my teammates! Here is his story:
Dennis was born & raised in the Seattle area. He was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in August of 2008. He responded well to initial treatments and in August of 2009 was put on an experimental growth inhibitor, which was aimed at maintaining the cancer rather than getting rid of it. The treatment was extremely effective for about a year. However scans in August 2010 showed that the largest tumor had grown and smaller tumors had returned. After this discover, his overall health deteriorated, and he lost his battle on October 26, 2010.
Dennis & his youngest daughter, Christine.
This is not lukemia or lymphoma but it is cancer. It does still need a cure to stop taking our friends and family away from us!
How Can You Help?
Stop by and check on this website often! I'm going to attempt to log my training process for you to experience!
Thanks for your support!
For the month of January I ended up with 135 miles running! This is the most I have EVER done! January started the hard build up to the race. Everything before was foundation building and now we have started really adding up the miles! Our longest run in January was 14 miles!
The month started out pretty tough trying to balance running so much and getting enough food for all the exercise! I think I have it figured out now and am feeling much better! I've also had some runing coaching lessons which have been a fabulous help!
Please condiser a donation to keep me running and help find a cure for Lukemia & Lymphomia!
