On April 12, 1968 My 6 year old brother David lost his fight with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He fought hard for four long years. I was 2 years old. It was Good Friday. My parents had been with him for hours as he slipped in and out of consciousness. He kept asking my dad, "When is it going to snow?". My dad would gently remind him that it was springtime, it was almost Easter, it rarely snowed in Tacoma. David persisted, "Daddy, when is it going to snow?". My daddy relented, "When the angels come it will snow.". The hours passed and David peacefully flew home. My dad walked to the window and the angels had indeed come...it was snowing! Don't believe me? Look it up. On April 12, 1968 Tacoma experiened a rare Spring snow storm. For our family this story represents a miracle.
My friends you are about witness another miracle. I have joined the Leukemia Lymphoma Society's Team In Training and on May 6, 2012 I will be running/walking in my first marathon in memory of my David who inspired me in ways I cannot even describe. I hope you will join me in my efforts to end blood cancers. Every little bit helps as I walk for a cure. I know David walks with me. He has my whole life. My mom always said he loved me best :) It's time to return the favor. Let's fight for David. On behalf of my family and every family who walks the road we did...thank you!
