Nancy had her last Chemo treatment on April 25th. We have received GREAT news, she is in full remission. Her last tests showed no visible signs of the cancer. We are hopeful that it is actually cured (permanent remission). She will still need to go in for testing again in 6 months and then every year for several years.
Though she is in remission, I am still doing my fund raising to support LLS. We are hoping that we will not need their services in the future, but we do know that many others will.
I have just more than a month left to complete my fund raising. Please help with any amount you can.
Nancy is still going through tests. We will meet with the oncologist on Monday Feb. 20th to find out the extend of the cancer and to discuss treament options.
Nancy has started her Chemo therapy treatments. She has had two so far. As expected she has started to lose her hair. Good news is that it does not make her as sick as expected when she is actually getting the treatment. But a few days after treatment she is just drained of all her energy and can do little most days, this lasted only a few days after the first treatment but has been more severe since the second treatment.
Next week she gets her third treatment and we will find out if there is any improvement in the cancer screening.
We want to thank everyone for their generous donations, thoughts and prayers. We are hopeful that Nancy will be cured (in remission) by mid summer.
Met with the doctor today to find out the prognosis and spread of the cancer. The cancer is mainly contained to the spleen, but there are several other lymph nodes in her abdomen that are also affected. The doctor believes that the cancer started 5 to 7 years ago. He believes that with treatment she will be cured (full remission). He has scheduled her first chemo therapy treatment for Wednesday Feb. 22, with 5 more treatments to follow about every 3 weeks. He has recommended no radiation therapy at this time.
Teams are made up of individuals. Without them, there is no team.
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
Why am I doing this? On January 31, 2012 my wife Nancy was diagnosed with B Cell Lymphoma. While it is still to early to tell if it was caught in time and treatments will be successful, we are hoping for the best. I am hoping that you will be able to help LLS in helping Nancy and others with this form of cancer.
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures. Even a donation of $5 will help me to get closer to my goal. I know that everyone will give what they can, and I appreciate every donation no matter what the amount. Donations can be made up to July 2, 2012.
You can increase you donation if your company does gift matching. Check with your company or here for more informaiton.
