I finished the marathon last Saturday and raised over $1700 for LLS. Additionally, the 280 Team in Training runners who participated in this event raised over $1million towards Leukemia and Lymphoma research to help find a cure. See my epic journey through Seattle below....(sorry the pics are so large)
Very early in the race, I had lots of energy and excitement....
Touching moment for me as I ran past the memorial for fallen service members
The most amazing cheerleaders somewhere around mile 14. Girls are strong!
Still running.....
2 miles to go...I was a little delirious at this point and sooooo thankful to be joined by coach Adrienne.
Coach Rupy joined us for the home stretch...I could hear all my teamates cheering for me but my eyes were on the Finish Line.
~~ I cant say it enough....THANK YOU ALL for your support. I couldn't have
done it with out you!
2 days to go....Looking forward to being at the start line. I dont have the words for how I'm feeling today. Or maybe, I have too many words and I dont know how to narrow it down into a status update...lol. See you at the Finish Line!!!
I'm not gonna lie, these two weeks have been hard.
Week 18 was our longest run- 3hrs. I'm anticipating 5 1/2 to 6 hours to complete the marathon. I'm very thankful I've had all these weeks of training with TNT learning about stretching, pacing myself, nutrition, rest and recovery, what to do when things do go as expected (lol), positive self-talk, trust and confidence. I've also realized that, for me, success is getting to the starting line on June 21st. Nothing that happens after that will take away from this experience for me. I've decided it will be ok if I need to walk some, it will be ok if I stop and take pictures, it will be ok if waiting in line for a port-o-potty takes 5 mins, and it will be ok if my entire body is sore for a week afterwards. I hear there's chocolate milk at the finish line
I'm also thankful the weather is changing. Check out Wright Park now.
...
Most of the doubt is gone. I am going to be able to do this! Only a little uncertainty remains on the grounds that I have never done this before. When I first started running a few years ago, running a 5k seemed out of reach. But, I've learned that I'm stronger than I think I am (with assistance all along the way). I think we all are. Sometimes, we just need a little support and encouragement.
