Dear Friends and Family,
In November of 2006 I participated in my first Team in Training event. I walked 26.2 miles in the rain and snow through, what felt like, the entire city of Seattle. My wonderful and supportive mom, Jan McAlister, was in the middle of her treatment for Acute Myelogenous Leukema at the time. But she was right there on the sidelines holding signs and cheering me on. Unfortunately, just two months later, on January 30, 2007, she lost her battle with AML.
Five years after her death I've decided to train for another event and raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I've been busy the last few years with work and kids and just plain life but now it's time honor my mom's memory and help other families that are facing a battle with cancer.
