Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to Lindsay and Ashleys's team In Training home page.

I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. As most of you know, December 17, 2008 I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. As of June 1, 2009, I have been cancer free! Going through this experience was definetly the hardest thing I will ever have to go through. However, it was the best thing to happen to me. I know that sounds really crazy. It taught me to love the little things in life and not take things for granted. It taught me a whole different outlook on life, one minute you have everything you could ever dream of and then the next minute it can all be taken away from you. Even sitting in the hospital I was thinking when I am through with this journey of my life what can I do to help and give back and bring awarness to these scarey illnesses. The amount of support I received along with my family was so overwhelming and so much appreciated this is one big reason I am running this race. If I can show support in anyway I really want it to be this way, to raise money to find cures.

I am competing in this event and using Dani Betts inspiration and strong will and determination and all individuals who are battling blood cancers, to inspire me in completing 13.1 miles. Dani was diagnosed with thalamic astrocytoma at the age of 3 on June 9, 2009. Dani loves being outside, hiking, snowshoeing and even spending time on Mt.Rainier.

Dani loves Finding Nemo and Cinderella. One day she hopes to go scuba diving with her dad to find him, NEMO! Dani is still fighting strong and is a major inspiration to me. Being only 4 years old and going through what she has faced is definetly inspirational. I will be running this event with my mom and we both know that with inspirations like Dani's we can finish this run strong! These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
