Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I am so excited to share with you my commitment to joining The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team in Training and the crazy adventure that is my first half marathon. On June 27, 2009 I will be taking part in the Seattle Rock N Roll Half Marathon.
Training began January 31st and I am hard at work preparing myself mentally and physically for this event. Each week there are 3 team practices and the rest of the week it is up to me to make sure I practice on my own. My teammates and I will be focused on preparing for our events, but we will be working even harder towards our ultimate goal - finding a cure! All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
As a wish granter for the Make A Wish Foundation I have had the opportunity to meet some pretty awesome kids who are battling some pretty big illnesses. It took me about 5 minutes of being inside Seattle Children's Hospital to realize I wanted to do more, needed to do more. When I found out about Team In Training I knew it was a perfect chance for me to help. Not only can I accomplish a personal goal of completing a half marathon, but I also have the ability to make a contribution that will improve, and maybe even save lives.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. Any donation, whether it be $5, $500, $5,000, or anywhere in between, puts LLS closer to the ultimate milestone of a cure to all blood cancers. I MUST reach my fundraising minimum of $1,800 by Monday, June 15th at 5pm.
If you donate on my website, you will receive a confirmation email and I will be notified as soon as you make your donation. Your donation is 100% tax deductible and 75% of the funds raised go directly to research, education and patient support. If you prefer to donate by check, send me a quick email and I can give you my mailing address.
If you are unable to contribute at this time please know that your words of encouragement and support are equally important to me, and please forward my information on to anyone you feel would like to know more about my mission.
If you or someone you know has been personally touched by blood cancer, or any other type of cancer, please feel free to share their name and story with me. I would love to run in their honor and can also share their battle with my teammates to help give us all a little boost and a reminder of why we are doing this.
Thank you all so much and I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress.
Thank you for your support!
