Up Hill Battle
Mar 31, 2012 by Laura Lok

this past week we had hill training. good for the body to build some strength and good for the mind to think about concuring something that is a challenge.
Cancer, like running up hills, is a battle with many rocks in the road.
For patients there are good days and there are bad days. treatments are not easy and the pain is often unbearable. There is worry of not seeing a future and worry of the unknown. For the families it is stressful, costly and fearful. Seeing a loved one suffer is a pain no one should have to understand. But they keep going everyday.
They keep at it because at the top of that hill is the rest of their life.
that is what I thought of as I climbed the hills. And if I can help make a difference by raising funds so that some day noone has to make that hill climb with a loved one I will.
EVERY STEP LIKE EVERY DOLLAR MAKES A DIFFERENCE
So please if you can make a donation please do, even $5.00 can make a difference.

cancer doesn't stop for bad weather

cancer doesn't stop for bad weather and neither do we. A snow storm rolled in just in time for our weekly training run. when we left it had just started by the time we returned there was at least 2 inches on the ground.
It was cold, it was wet and snow blowing hard but I continued because you see this is what I do. I run, I walk and I continue to raise money for the familes and patients of Leukemia and Lymphomo.
I hope you can join me in my quest. Donations can be made on line or checks can be mailed to me just email me at stampmouse@gmail.com for my address. I have seen so much good done through this organization with patient services and research I will continue to contribute myself and ask for donations from others. together we can help with finding a cure and help families with cancer make a few things just a little bit easier.
Please pass the word on and together we will knock out cancer one step at a time.

team

Another week under my belt. Not a great week as far as running since I had a few issues with injuries. But I am back on track after Coach Lyssa for some tips on recovery another benefit of being part of the team. Having someone that has trained for endurance events and has knowledge of injuries makes for a safer recovery and a huge benefit of TEAM
we are up to 50 minutes for our long runs/walks. This weekends TEAM walk/run was on the centenial trail. It was a cold windy day but went well. Nothing like getting some fresh air to get the blood flowing. We are doing this for those that can't and to make a difference so a little wind and cold is easy to endure compared to what Cancer patients endure every day. This is why we do it. To make a difference, to raise funds for reasearch to help prevent and make life easier for others.
Thank you to everyone for your donations so far. I have seen how much good these donations have done. Keep them coming and lets be a TEAM to knock out cancer.

for sherry - and many more

Last saturday ( a cold and raininy day) our team dedicated our run to Sherry Arnold - a runner, mother, wife, daughter, and teacher- she went for an early morning run on January 7, 2012, and never came home. As a reminder to everyone that life is precious and sometimes tragic we all need to stick together and help out each other
I am a strong beliver that if each person just does a little bit of good no matter what that good is this world would be a better place
My dedication to the team in training cause and supporting the leukemia and lymphomo society is one of several charities I support but I also try to volunteer my time to others whenever I can If you can I hope you can help my cause as well
and lastly something that doesn't cost a dime is a smile You never know when your smile might just make someone else's day a little better even if you never know it

confession

I have a little story to tell and a bit of a confession I signed up again but was on the fence with joining team again. The fundraising scares me, asking friends and family again for donations is not easy for me But then I got an email. A dear friend's husband has lymphoma. this is not fair, they are good people I just don't get it I want to scream and cry each time I hear the cancer word
That email came just after my first training session where I was still not sure what I was going to fully commit but went to see who all was showing up and get some exercise in. i thought it was a sign that my work was not done I need to raise more awareness and help as much as possible so that we don't get these emails, phone calls and hear the dreaded "C" word anymore
so if you can please donate here on line or drop me an email (stampmouse@gmail.com) and I will send you my mailing address where a check made to LLS can be sent.
as for progress on my training:
First week of training has been completed didn't do so great was a bad week emotionally for me and I didn't push myself to go outside this go around I am stepping it up from walking a 1/2 marathon to a run walk To start i am working on a run 1 walk 2 minute schedule and will adjust as I go my goal is to make it in less then 3 hours this time
Together we can beat cancer!!!
as always feel free to contact me with any questions or maybe you can find a team to join where you are??
