Team Run Forest Run consists of two Delta Junction women; Tammy Irvine and Sonia Castleberry. We both work on Fort Greely and live in Delta Junction. Both of us moved here from the Seattle area and still miss certain aspects of the big city life, hello! where can we get a Starbucks? :-) We have made Delta Junction our home and try to be involved in as many community activities as we can. We like to cross country ski, ice skate, hike, bike (those last two are just Tammy activities :-D) go 4-wheeling and mudding. We try to get out and enjoy as much of this beautiful area as possible. This summer we've discovered new activities; training for the Nike 2010 Women's 1/2 Marathon in San Francisco and fundraising for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Team in Training.
We are a part of the Fairbanks Team in Training and all of us on the team are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. We are completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. Our honored teammate for this years event is Bailey Carter, a 13-year-old boy from Fairbanks, Alaska. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
We are blessed to live in a very giving community. Whenever there is a family or individual stricken by a tragedy or disease, members of our community (this includes Fort Greely) have really stepped up and given generously. We are amazed and very proud to be a part of this and are always glad to see the money stay in the community to help those who desperately need it but are oft times unwillingly to ask.
This is one case where we are asking for your donations to go outside. We realize that is a sensitive issue as we all want to help our fellow citizens but until these diseases are eradicated it is vital that funds also go outside to cancer research. That being said we are asking you to please consider making a donation to support our team's participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
We hope you will visit our web site often. We have some exciting fundraising events in the works and will be posting them on this site as details firm up.
Thanks for your support!
