Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I am so excited to be training for a marathon for the fourth time with Team in Training. This season I am training for the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco, on October 19, 2008. For the first time, I am also a mentor. My mentees range from beginners to a Boston Marathon finisher, and I couldn't be prouder to help get these dedicated athletes to the start line in San Francisco with me.

What keeps me coming back? Sure, the people are great and the cameraderie on the trail helps us get through the miles. But what draws such great people season after season and what helps build that strong rapport is the knowledge that we are out there sweating every Saturday morning (and several days a week in between) for such an important cause.

Team in Training supports the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which, since 1949, has invested over $550 million in leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma research. Over the years with TNT, I have heard the heart-wrenching stories of people whose lives have been forever altered by cancer. These survivors, parents of survivors, and parents of children whose lives were cut short by disease, all talk about the work that the Society is doing and how it is helping hundreds of thousands of people living with blood cancer. They all talk about how Team in Training participants inspire and amaze them with their dedication, even as we are being inspired and amazed by their bravery and relentless struggle toward a cure.

So I've made a decision. As long as you keep coming back to click that DONATE NOW button, I'll keep coming back to the team. Last spring it was Prague. This fall it's Nike. Next year, a triathlon?
