Welcome to my Team In Training home page!
I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. As many of you know, my own family has been directly affected by Lymphoma and I want to do something to help. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in the Saunder's Subaru Victoria Triathlon as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, we can all help improve the quality of life and find cures and new treatments for those affected by these diseases.
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures. Thank you,
Kate

So, I decided on a triathlon for a few reasons and to hopefully learn some new skills in the process. Some of the phrases I have been thinking of:
The time is now, just do it!
Knees aren't what they used to be so... instead of a marathon why not a Triathlon? :)
Swimming is good for me right?!
Biking with clip in shoes? I am totally going to bail!
If people can go through cancer treatment (chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, radiation) I can do this.
Hi! If you haven’t seen this short video yet please watch it. This is an example of what LLS is investing your hard earned dollars in. They have funded Dr. June and his team for over 20 years, investing over $20 million into this cutting edge research. On a side note- Robert's treatment team of doctors has referred to this research as another option for him should his Lymphoma come back. It is being pioneered and has been hugely successful in trials. Another important point, the receipients in these trials have tried EVERY treatment out there without success, so it is even more amazing that it is working. -Kate
I train because it's what I CAN do to DO SOMETHING.
I train for my husband, Robert, who was diagnosed in May 2013 with Large B-Cell Lymphoma. Even though he is in remission he continues to battle to feel like his old self again.
I train for my kids, Ava and Jack, to show them what love, determination and a goal can achieve.
I train for myself because I want something good to come out of all of this, to have meaning and to fight!
I train to feel good, meet new people, hear new stories and above all find a cure!
This will be my 1st season with TEAM, but my second triathlon!
