Dean and Megan’s Lavaman Adventure!! Five months from now we will embarking on this incredible adventure. The Lavaman Triathlon on March 29th, 2009 will be on our door step before we know it! Dean and I will be working as a team to raise $10,000 to fight blood cancers. Since 1988, more than 380,000 volunteer participants have helped raise more than $900 million. More importantly, seventy five cents out of every dollar donated goes to blood cancer research. All of us on Team In Training are committed to raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. Cancer is something that affects each and every one of us in some way or at some point in our lives. It is important for each of us to take an active role in curing not just the cancers the Society supports but all cancers. We live in the greatest society in the world, we have the tools, we have the talent and all we need is the help to support to this very important cause. Dean and I are completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. But more specifically in honor of Dean's cousin John Spalding who recently lost his heroic battle with cancer November 23, 2008. John’s attitude and love of life is an inspiration to the both of us. John and all the other brave individuals living with, battling, and who have beaten cancer are the real heroes on our team, and should be an inspiration to all of us!
