Lacing 'em up again...

"Hey, fans!" As many of you know, I've been involved with Team in Training (TNT), an endurance event training program benefitting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) for the past five years.

I ran my first marathon in Anchorage, Alaska with the team in 2004. After finding out my mentor, friend, and running role model, Kit, had been battling leukemia the whole time I knew her, I did the only thing I knew what to do, I laced up my shoes and participated in two more events.

Well, I'm at it again. I'm mentoring runners on the Seattle team and am training for the Dublin (yes, Ireland) Marathon (yes, 26.2 miles) on October 26th, and I'm committed to raising $6200 to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins lymphoma and myeloma. While I'm completing this event for all those currently in the fight, my true motivation and strength comes from knowing that Kit fought a brave fight, never gave up, and because of the research and work of the LLS, she is now in remission and is back out there running! Not everyone is as lucky as Kit, and until these diseases are knocked out, then I need to keep on running.

Times are tough, I know, but cancer doesn't stop for a down economy. I have an ambitious commitment ahead of me--both in fundraising and in training for this race--but I believe it can be done. With your help (no matter how big or small), we can get there.

Your donations are tax-deductible and 75% of the funds raised go directly to fight cancers (the other 25% cover the administrative costs of the program). You can rest assured that your funds will go a long way and will have an immediate impact. Just think, Kit might not be here today were it not for donations from people like you and me.
