Dawnell is running another marathon with Team In Training
and fundraising on behalf of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS)!
A few years ago when I was in college, I told myself that after I graduated, I needed to do something huge for someone else, something bigger and beyond myself and anything I knew, in memory of my Mom whom my family lost to cancer when she was 44. Shortly after graduating, I signed up to run my first full marathon with TNT and raise $6,200. YIKES! I was freaked out and wondered if I were of sound mind on the night I signed that commitment paperwork. I not only met my fundraising goal on that first event, but was able to raise $12,000 for the LLS and run 3 full marathons in a year’s time. I’m at it again! I’ll be running the Marine Corp. Marathon in Washington D.C. and have a fundraising goal of $2,450 (I’d like to raise MORE!).
I will be fundraising and running my marathon in honor of an angel faced, brave little man named Anthony. Anthony was born with a heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot, and survived a complicated heart surgery when he was just 3 months old. He recovered very well from his surgery and life was good for Anthony and his family. He was shortly thereafter diagnosed with leukemia, and he is now 2 years old and doing his best to kick cancer and be a kid at the same time.

Anthony and I need your help to send cancer packing. More than 75% of all funds donated to the LLS go directly to patient care and research. Simply put, your money improves quality of life and supports critical cancer research that benefits kiddos like Anthony. Please consider making a donation today. The first 26 people to donate $1 per mile or more ($26.20 or more) are invited to donate in honor or memory of a loved one who has been affected by cancer, and I will wear that loved one's name on my TNT jersey on race day. A mile of my journey will be for your loved one.
