Racing to Save Lives
I'm training to participate in my first marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. You can help me make it to the race AND saves lives by making a donation.
UPDATE (11/24): I CAN RUN! Saw the doc yesterday. My boot came off and I was cleared for running. Hooray! Of course, I'll be way below pace and may face another week in the boot afterwards, but I am still so relieved that I get to participate.
UPDATE (11/19): Send off party was last night. Got my goodie bag and a load of great race day tips. SO EXCITED!
UPDATE (11/16): The doctor put me in a boot! The pain in my left foot turned out to be a rough combo of Plantar Faciitis and Tendonitis. Ibuprophen, ice and immobility for me. I'll find out in one week if I can get the boot off in time for the marathon. (Fingers crossed!)
UPDATE (11/8): Completed 20 mie training run without croaking. Now I finally really believe I can do 26.2.
UPDATE (10/31): Ali signed up for the Vancouver marathon! Whoo-hoo! Watch his progress here.
UPDATE (10/24): Ran 18 miles with the team today. Now this distance is actually starting to look possible.
UPDATE (8/13): I switched marathons! I was planning to run in the Nike Womens' Marathon, but I've switched to the Seattle Marathon. This means I will run the day after Thanksgiving AND don't have to take a plane anywhere. I also only need to raise $1800, however it may take TNT some time to update my numbers on the right.
Training is going well. I recovered from a pulled muscle about a month and a half ago and have been running strong since. I'm making good use of the hills in Seattle for training. My favorite run right now is the one I start right outside my door. So convenient!
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
Much love, Kelsye
