$16,817.79.

That's the amount of money I've raised since I signed up for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training in April of 2012. I had no idea how I was going to raise over $3,000 at the time, and I had no idea how important this organization would mean to me- the people I would meet, the people we would lose, and the lives we would touch with the work we were doing, all through running.

But I'm not finished. LLS has made leaps and bounds in treatment, but there is still no cure. I run because no family should have to watch their loved ones suffer through treatments for a chance at life. I run because no one should have to lose a friend, sister, brother, child, uncle, aunt, parent or grandparent to cancer. I run for my Uncle Mike who we lost in 2007. I love him and miss him every day. I run for Jenny O'Reilly, a friend, and fellow TNT teammate, who lost her battle December of 2012, the day before her 33rd birthday.

This time I am attempting the Dopey Challenge; a 5k, 10k, half marathon, and full marathon across 4 days at the most magical place on Earth. 48.6 miles seems daunting and yes, even a little Dopey, but I keep thinking of my heroes...  As part of Team Jenny we are trying to raise $100,000 for an LLS Funded Research Grant in memory of Jenny and Michael.

Jenny always said a Disney race would be the one we would do together when she was better and on her feet again. I keep thinking she never had the chance to run that race or even celebrate her next birthday. My first half marathon ever was at Disney World on the 5 year anniversary of losing my Uncle Mike so Disney races have a special place in my heart.
