It was a cold, wet and windy weekend in San Antonio when 113 Team In Training participants from all across the U.S. came together to race the Rock 'N Roll San Antonio 10K, Marathon & Half on December 3 & 4. Our group raised over $220,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - with the Flex team contributing over $70,000 to that grand total! Because we were in Texas, we got a little extra shout added to our usual inspiration dinner ending cheer: Go Team! Yee-ha! The local chapter was very welcoming and, aside from the weather, it was a truly enjoyable event weekend. San Antonio is a beautiful and historic city -- I hope to return someday to explore without my poncho and umbrella.
Thanks to all who made donations to LLS through Team In Training to help CURE blood cancers and provide support to patients and their families. I am so proud of my 'mentees' - the Yo No Me Quito-Puerto Rico team of 11 (led by the amazing Carmina who was an "Adrenaline Challenge" winner), plus 3 Californians, a Utahn, and 3 Arizonans. The 18 of us raised over $43,000 for LLS by event weekend, with more dollars rolling in after the race. We had the #2 fundraiser for the event (Erika!), and three 'Rock Stars' who raised at least $1,000 over their minimum for the event (Erika, Jen and me!). It was terrific to meet all of these folks and I hope to see each and every one at another TNT event!
Here are a few photos:
Thanks, again, to all who supported LLS through my fundraising efforts! Happy holidays to one and all!
Cheers,
Mary
When you go head-to-head with Game 5 of the World Series (Go Cubs!), Halloween parties and the end of a loooonnnng University of Arizona Homecoming weekend, you lower your expectations for a fundraising event. But...the crowd was generous, the comics in top form and we raised $1,500 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at our comedy show -- The Estrogen Hour: Bewitched! My sincere gratitude to host Nancy Stanley, our coven of comics, the management and staff of Laff's Comedy Caffe and my terrific volunteers: Sabrina Beyer, Kathy Lauer and Bert Skye! Thanks to all for donating time, talent, and dollars to the fight against blood cancers!

The Estrogen Hour 'Summer Sizzler' was a smashing success on Sunday, August 14 with host Nancy Stanley and a cavalcade of Tucson's funniest females! The AMAZING line-up included Suzie Sexton, Bridgitte Thum, Kim Bourn, Teresa Welborn, Linda Ray, Dawn Vandaveer, and Noel Hennessey, along with GUESTOSTERONE: Laff's own bartender extraordinaire Johnny Dingo! They were joined on stage by walk-ups Mo Urban, Josiah Loring & Michael Celi! What a great night!
We raised $2,200 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society bringing the money raised by The Estrogen Hour comedy shows to just about $15,000!
The next comedy show will be Sunday, October 30, at Laff's - stay tuned for more information on that event and 'LIKE' The Estrogen Hour on Facebook! In the meantime, I'll be looking to raise funds through sales of Bee Cause Sneaker Charms and a variety of other events and activities. I won't stop running - and raising funds for LLS - until a CURE for blood cancers is found!
On December 4th I'll be running a half-marathon (that's 13.1 miles!) in San Antonio, wearing my purple Team In Training jersey and participating in memory of my brother-in-law, Buck Lauer, and in honor of far too many souls who have battled or are battling CANCER. Thank you for your continued support!
GO TEAM!

MARY'S MISSION: Running & Raising $ for a CURE!
It takes more than one person to make up a team and that’s why I’m asking you to donate to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) on my Team In Training (TNT) fundraising page! By participating as a member of TNT in the Rock 'n' Roll San Antonio Half-Marathon in December, my goal is to raise awareness of blood cancers AND much-needed funds to help find cures and ensure access to treatments for all cancer patients.
Your donation will help fund treatments that save lives every day; like immunotherapies that use a person’s own immune system to kill cancer. Research funded by LLS has helped patients with many forms of cancer, including breast cancer. Innovative treatments are improving survival rates for patients as scientists work to find a CURE! Patients need these therapies and they need your support.
I train and run half-marathons in memory of my wonderful brother-in-law, Buck Lauer, and in honor of my sister, Kathy, who was Buck's devoted caregiver and advocate. My race jersey is decorated with the names of my donors' family members and friends who are currently battling cancer, as well as survivors and those who lost the fight. I won't stop raising $ for LLS -- and running endurance events -- until a CURE is found.
Please join me and make a donation in any amount to support of my efforts with Team In Training for the Rock 'N' Roll Half-Marathon in San Antonio on December 4 -- and help get us all closer to a world without blood cancers.
Thank you...and GO TEAM!
MARY
