WELCOME TO MY TEAM IN TRAINING (TNT) HOME PAGE!

On May 31, 2015 I have a date with cancer! It won't be pretty but I won't be alone. There will be thousands of us running, jogging, walking the streets of San Diego, CA while thousands of others will be cheering us on from the side walks, cars and buildings! I will be literally taking thousands of steps on May 31 to celebrate the work we have all done through Team Costa and the many other teams via fund-raising and training to find a cure for cancer in our time!

This annual date with cancer started when I lost my daughter Kimberly Joy Costa to Hodgkins disease; a blood related form of cancer, on July 24, 2000 at the age of 19.

A very good friend of mine, Tom Hill directed me to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training Program as a way to positively strike back at this very evil that took my daughter from me. My first marathon was in January 2001 with a group of cleaning industry friends. Kim saw me through the training for this event and I believe she crossed the finish line with me on that day and every day since. She wrote these incredible "10 Life Lessons" as her high school graduation speech that has touched thousands of lives; and I mean thousands!

To add insult to injury on May 17, 2010 I then lost my father to Leukemia; another form of blood cancer. My father taught me the trade of carpet installation and also taught me valuable lessons concerning work ethics.

Since 2001; with 14 marathon and half marathon events under my belt; Team Costa has raised: $186,239.43! Our team has ALWAYS BEEN in the top TEN fund raisers for each of the 14 events! With this 15th event on May 31, I hope to raise the balance needed to reach the $200,000 mark! The money raised has supported those battling cancer through patient care; successful treatments such as Gleevec; auto-immune therapies that have taken some agressive virus's and re-programmed them to only attack cancer cells; and the list goes on...

So, I promise to take the thousands of steps both before and during the marathon to do my part in ridding the world of cancer. Can I count on you to take ONE STEP which is the most important step? Please donate to my TNT fundraising page so that multiple landmarks can be achieved.
