Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page!
Most of you know that I have been caring for children with cancer and blood diseases for more than ten years. I am so proud of what I do and so privileged to work with such incredible families.
Because I have set a personal goal to complete a half marathon and because the greatest number of patients I treat are those with leukemia and lymphoma, it only seemed fitting to partner with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS).
Two of my patients in particular epitomize the importance of the Life Saving work of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Alex was diagnosed with Very High Risk Philadelphia chromosome positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when he was junior in High School. He received cutting edge research based chemotherapy and subsequently a bone marrow transplant. He celebrated three years from bone marrow transplant in January and is thriving as a shophomore in college at Arizona State University. The second patient, Colten, was diagnosed with Acute Myelocytic Leukemia when he was two and a half years old. Colten completed treatment for the first time and subsequently relapsed a month later. He received more chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, only to relapse again after receiving every treatment option we currently have available. He passed away on New Years Eve this year. Colten desparately needed more research to provide a treatment that would cure his leukemia.
I'm training to participate in the San Diego Rock and Roll Half Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Traing are raising funds to help stop Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkins Lymphoma and Myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers, especially all of the leukemia/lymphoma warriors I have been blessed to care for and get to know. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your
support!
