Racing to Save Lives

Welcome and thank you for visiting my Team In Training Website!! 2010 is the beginning of a new year, and I am committed to making it a year of new hope, new beginnings, and new memories. It is also the year that I will be turning 30 (June 30th), my long awaited 'Golden Birthday'. I will be welcoming this new decade of life with open arms, a fresh outlook, and an ever-growing list of goals!

As many of you know, a little over a year ago 'Cancer' was simply not a part of my vocabulary. I knew of those who suffered from this unforgiving disease, and had close friends who lost parents to it as well, but prior to February of 2009, it was just a word, not a part of me. During the course of this past year, that all changed, as my Mom, a young, beautiful, energetic, and spirited woman was diagnosed with stage IV brain cancer. She faced numerous trials and tribulations during the course of her illness, but she never failed to amaze and inspire me., along with so many others. It was during the course of her illness and recent passing in January that I made the decision to join Team in Training as part of a national team, Team Shrinking Jeans to help raise awareness and fight the cause for ALL cancers. I feel there are many organizations that promise to aid in cancer research and benefit those facing the challenges that come with the disease, however, I was particularily drawn to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and their ability and determination to make a difference and save lives!

As a member of Team Shrinking Jeans (a website dedicated to all things healthy and fit: http://shrinkingjeans.net) I am committed to my personal goal of raising $2900 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and will participate in a 1/2 marathon run in San Diego on June 6th, along with the rest of my teammates. Your 100% tax deductible donation made on my behalf to this organization will help stop leukemia, lymphoma and the many other forms of blood cancer from taking more unnecessary lives. I will be completing this event in honor of all individuals battling not only blood cancers, but all cancers, for those who still fight and for those who no longer can.

In order to reach my goal, I am enlisting the help of my friends, family members, neighbors, community leaders, co-workers and anyone who wants to make a difference, I will run in honor of your support!

Whether it is a $1 donation or a $100 donation, you will be changing the future of cancer by funding continued research and providing assistance for patients and their families.
