Racing to Save Lives
Hi everyone!!! Welcome to my Team In Training home page!!!
I am part of "Team Shrinking Jeans", a wonderful group of women (and one dude) training to participate in a half marathon in June as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
Saturday, March 27th, I walked for 10 hours on a treadmill in the middle of my mall, wearing different outfits (I had an 80's hour), and different hats and pretty much made a spectacle of myself and raised $1400!! Thank you to everyone who stopped by to support me!! The event was on tv! You can see it HERE. I am still raising money for cancer and I will be until our May deadline! I am still out necklaces for every donation $20 or more! You can choose the one you want HERE.
Why am I doing all this? Each step I take throughout my training and on race day is in honor of all individuals who put one foot in front of the other to battlie blood cancers. I'm running in honor of Rose Astorina, my dear friend and former roommate and coworker who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2007. She 's the beautiful mother of a beautiful 4 year old boy and after a fierce battle, I'm proud to say she's a cancer SURVIVOR! Her strength and will are amazing! She was brave enough to share her battle and you can see more of her story, done by FOX News Channel HERE.
These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! Please help send me to San Diego to run for them by donating for a cure!!
