Second Week Complete!
Nov 23, 2015 by Libby Reilly

Whoo... I am really feeling the love as I enter week 3 of training!

Last week was good and it definitely built my confidence a bit even despite the crazy rain that killed two of my days!

I did my long run (50-60 minutes) on Saturday morning with Sadie, our yellow lab. She did okay and it was nice to have a running partner but she hasn't been used to long distances for a while (Shane used to take her on a good few miles) so when she got exhausted and started limping before mile 4, Shane had to come pick her up and I finished my run solo.

This week ahead is Thanksgiving and we will be celebrating in the cool weather of Massachusetts! It will be interesting fitting my runs in around family time AND in the frigid cold but I know I will get it done!

Thank you so much for all of your support and encouragement. Last week my mood was definitely one of empowerment and positivity because I could feel all the love and prayers coming my way!

A HUGE shout-out this week goes to Amanda, Mallory, Nancy, Andrea, Laura, Misti, Melissa, Josh & Lindsey, Aunt Elva, and Aunt Susie! Your donations mean so much to me and will do wonderful things in the fight against blood cancers!

Please continue to spread the word of my training in order to raise money for LLS. I am 21% to my goal of $1800 and I really need to get those numbers up in the next few weeks.

Thank you!

First Week Complete!
Nov 16, 2015 by Libby Reilly

Week 1 of 16 is complete and I am feeling great! My coach and I agreed that for the first four weeks, I would do 3 shorter runs (20-30 minutes) and 1 long run on the weekends (50-60 minutes). So this week, I tried to not worry about my time or pace and just focus on enjoying being outside and getting my feet moving!

My three shorter runs this week were very early in the morning (starting at about 5:30- 5:45) so my sweet husband, Shane made sure I was equipped with all the right reflective and blinky gear! Thanks, honey! As for running that early in the morning, I actually really enjoy it once I'm out the door. Bonus: sunrises like this around my little Lillian, Alabama!

My first long run (11/15) is pictured above (how much do you love my happy floral pants!?). I really did not want to get burned out and I know that injury is not an option during this training period so I took it slow, listened to a podcast, and enjoyed the amazing weather we had here on a Sunday afternoon! Endorphins are soarin, my friends.

Thank you to everyone who is supporting me in any way. I truly cannot do this without you!

Big shout out to Emily and Nana for starting out the fundraising efforts with your wonderful gift! It means so much to me!!

(This picture was taken right before my first training run on November 9!)

After pushing myself mentally and physically to new heights and also learning so much about the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), I decided recently to take a huge leap of faith and sign up to run a half marathon on February 28, 2016 through the LLS Team in Training program. If it weren't for the amazing opportunity to raise funds for cancer research and care, this goal would be just a pipe dream for me.

I know that physically, through many hours of training, I can complete the half marathon in stride. I also know that without support from family and friends, my efforts would be for naught.

Will you join me in not only pushing me to achieve this physical goal but also supporting this cause financially? All donations go to the amazing work LLS is doing in order to make this a world without cancer. How wonderful it is to be a part of that cause!

Your donation will help fund treatments that save lives every day, such as immunotherapies that use a person’s own immune system to kill cancer. Every single donation helps save a life with breakthrough therapies such as these.

Patients need these cures and they need your support.

Please consider making a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help get us all closer to a world without blood cancers.

Thank you!

"Libs, I'm so proud of you for taking on this challenge. As you know, cancer has impacted me in a very personal way with the death of my dad, still a young man at only 60 years of age when he died. Also, my only sister, Michele, lives with cancer. This is something that I reflect on daily, as we must be grateful for every moment that we have on this earth. While I am not yet ready to join you in this monster run, I am happy to contribute a small monetary gift to help you get there. . . and I'll be cheering for you along the way. You got this!!! Love, Sonya"
