Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page. I am finally doing a TNT event! As I celebrate my 10th Anniversary with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, I have decided to participate in the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon in October. I am training with a dear friend as we both celebrate our 40th birthday's and exciting years ahead for both of us.
All of us participating in Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
As you may know, I have worked for LLS for 10 years and I have met many survivors of our diseases and individuals currently in treatment at the numerous Inspiration Dinners, Victory Celebrations and race finish lines for TNT that I have supported. These individuals are the reason that I do my job everyday as they are an inspiration. I am walking and hopefully a little running in honor of all of them.
An example of one of these individuals, is the honored teammate for this team. Her name is Shelby Kay Batley. At the tender of 4, she was diagnosed with ALL leukemia. Her treatment included chemo which made her tired, nauseous, and sometimes dizzy. She is currently 14 and getting ready to enjoy summer at Camp-Smile-A-Mile (a camp for children with cancer). She is one of the lucky ones...
Please help me by making a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. Any and all donations will be helfpul in our fight to find a cure!
