"Let us run, with perseverance, the race marked out for us."

-Hebrews 12:1

Racing for...

Lindsey Wegrzyn Skogen and Amanda Post

11/17/09: So I am crazy and have signed up for a second half marathon with Team In Training! My dad and I and have $11,000+ for the Disney marathon and now I'm starting back at the begining =)

10/11/09: I am so honored to add another special person, Amanda Post, to our fundraising efforts. Amanda lost her battle at age 15 last May. Here's is a short bio of Amanda given to me by her mother and friend Paige Kennedy, "Amanda was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on Friday, 11/17/06 at 12-1/2 years old. She was treated at the Children's Hospital at Sinai in Baltimore, MD, entering complete remission after her first round of chemotherapy, and successfully finished all treatment as of 06/23/07. She continued in first remission through 10/08/08, when the AML returned. She re-entered remission with her first round of relapse chemotherapy at Sinai with our beloved pediatric oncology team, and completed her second round of chemotherapy in December. She went to the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC on 01/06/09 for her bone marrow transplant, receiving her new marrow on 01/16/09, and introducing us to yet another beloved group of pediatric specialists, but left us on 05/17/09. While our hearts ache with her passing, she has won in her own special Amanda way....and we have all won for having her with us for 15 loving, amazing years." Amanda is missed greatly by her family and friends at River Hill where she attended school and her teammates at Soccer Assosiation of Columbia .

09/22/09: I would just like to add this quote that Annie Skogen, Lindsey's 16 year old sister in law shared with me "I've never seen Lindsey cry, I've never seen her in a hopeless state. I've never seen her hint at a complaint , even though the pain (physical and emotional), were very overwhelming. The goodness of her Savior is the only thing she ever speaks of, and her mouth and heart is always full of thanksgiving and praise to the One who gave her life."

Lindsey is a beautiful 25 year old young woman originally from Fayetteville, GA. She was a key defensive player for the Mercer University Women's Soccer team until her fight with Lymphoma began 5 years ago. Lindsey has undergone many intensive and trying treatments over the past 5 years including two stem cell transplants. Although her battle has been a difficult one, Lindsey did not let the disease stop her from living her life to its fullest. Lindsey married Jacob Skogen in July 2007 and now has a beautiful little boy, Joseph.

In time's of crisis, many find themselves questioning and even resenting God for what has happened; however, Lindsey has remained a devout faithful Christian woman. Despite all she has been through, and will face, Lindsey says she is reminded everyday of "God's goodness and blessings in [her] life". Lindsey Skogen is truly an inspirational fighter and believer.

Please help me these two special young women by helping fund research to help battle these diseases that affect so many lives. Remember, all donations are tax deductible!

Thank you for taking the time to read these stories. God Bless!
