About 2 years ago I had a crazy idea that I wanted to run a marathon. But that was just an idea. I never acted upon it. Until now...
About 2 months ago on March 4th I ran my first half marathon. The idea was to see if I could even be diciplined enought to stick with running for that long. And I did! I finished in 2:16:55, way under my goal of 2:30:00! Now I knew that I would be able to conquer the infamous 26.2!
While I was training for my half maraton one of my best friends, Kimi , was training for her first marathon. Which she also successufly finished! (GO GIRL!!) But instead of training on her own she was training Team in Training. Not only did she have the support of coaches and a community of runners training for the same goal, she was running in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The more I heard about her experiences the more I wanted to be a part of them. Why would I just train on my own when I could train with a group of people and run for a good cause? So here I am training for a full marathon and supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the process by:
Participating the Bank of America Chicago Marathon (October 7th, 2012) as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
My goal is to raise $3,400 and train as hard as I can! Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
The best part of this whole thing is that I will be meeting Kimi in Chicago and we will run together! Thank you for your support!!
