Running to Fight Leukemia

Thank you everyone for your contributions! It looks like we've miraculously surpassed my initial fundraising goal of $3000. We are so very grateful for the support.

My sister was finally sent home from the hospital on Dec. 31st and enjoyed breaking in the New Year at home! She continues to recover day by day.

The shock that my family experienced in October 2008 was that my 14-year-old sister was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Though she has responded well to chemotherapy, the side effects have taken a toll, and she continues to recover in the hospital today.

Through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), I have taken on the challenge of running the Shamrock half-marathon in Virginia Beach in March 2009, to help children suffering from blood cancers.

I've joined the Virginia chapter of "Team in Training" to prepare for my first ever endurance event, and we are all raising funds for research to cure leukemia and other diseases.

The fact that you've taken the time to visit this site is so encouraging. I request your support for the LLS and appreciate the warm thoughts for my sister. Any donation goes to a wonderful cause!
