Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
8.29.08
Well the day has come...8.31.08 and I will be running with more than 22,000 people on Sunday. Imagine 200 Porta Potties...that's a lot of people!! Wake up call for me is 4:30 am and as the average person wakes up, I will have been running for some time.
I just wanted to thank everyone for their support. I would like to personally thank my mom for putting my website together and coming up with all sorts of ideas to fund raise...and some of them were doozies!!
I will be running in honor of all those who are or have suffered from blood cancers. Each and every mile I run will be a stride closer to helping to find a cure.
8.02.08
The deadline is getting closer and I'm getting a little nervous that I won't meet my goal. We're only half way and the marathon is August 31st.
So if I start knocking on your door, calling on the phone, e-mailing you, standing on street corners with a sign ... you'll know why!
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to our yard sale last week. It was really great!
Meanwhile, if you haven't donated yet, we really need your help. No donation is too small (or too large! :>)
And if you already gave, we won't be offended if you give again! Thank you for your support.

I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Ever wonder how far your donation can go?
- $25 provides patients and their loved ones with FREE booklets that contain up-to-date information on their disease and help them make informed decisions about their treatment options.
- $50 registers one person to be a bone marrow donor.
- $75 provides HLA (bone marrow) typing for a family member of a patient with leukemia.
- $100 helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.
- $150 provides 10 patients access to a web-conference to learn about their specific blood cancer.
- $300 will train 25 peer volunteers who can provide emotional support to newly diagnosed patients.
- $500 could provide patient aid to a person with Leukemia or a related cancer for an ENTIRE YEAR.
- $1,000 makes possible one- on-one conversations with health care specialists who provide patients with information about their disease, treatment options, and helps prepare them with questions for their health care team.
There is no donation too small. Every journey begins with just one step! Too many lives have been affected by leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and all other blood cancers. All donations make an impact!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
