Racing to Save Lives
I am on a mission. A mission to run a marathon with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) Team in Training (TNT) organization.
I have committed to run a marathon( 26.2 miles) during the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon - San Diego event on June 6, 2010. My mission started off as a personal mission: to get in shape. Although getting fit was my original intention, my goal has shifted and I now want to run to help find a cure.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research. Since 1949, LLS has been part of raising money for finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. Part of the money raised is also used to assist patients and their families.
FACT:
* Every 5 minutes - someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer
* Every 10 minutes - someone dies from a blood cancer
* Leukemia causes more deaths than any other cancer among children, under the age of 20.
LLS Team in Training program has raised $1 billion dollars since the first team of 38 runner ran the NYC Marathon in 1988, and now I want to help raise the bar on funding. My goal is to raise $3000 for this event. Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
Let’s find a cure! No donation is to small.
* $25 covers a single prescription co-payment
* $50 covers the cost of a CT scan
* $100 provides three patients access to an information teleconference
* $200 funds one Family Support Group meeting of 9-15 participants
* $1000 supports one week of salary for a blood cancer researcher at UCSF, Stanford, or UC Berkeley
